Uncle Tom's Cabin written by Harriet Beecher Stowe was into over 37 different languages. The book made a huge impact on and caused the split between North and the South. The 4 year war pitted one section of the country against another and almost nearly destroyed the United States. Newspaper accounts could not do, it also helped many 19th century Americans determine what kind of country they wanted. Uncle Tom's Cabin was credited with helping the abolitionists spread their messages in the 1850's, it inspired the population to learn more about the number of stereotypes about the black people. Uncle Tom's Cabin greatly influenced many people's thoughts about African Americans and slavery in the United States. The South didn't really care or show any concern for the enslaved people. They believed that Uncle Tom's Cabin was full of inaccuracies. The North was inspired by the book, Uncle Tom's Cabin and they wanted to help free the enslaved people. The North and South had different feelings, and thoughts about the enslaved which caused them to start a war and split apart.
